Jewish Sights

• Polička - Jewish cemetery 
  A cemetery from 1881 with a small memorial to 78 victims of Nazism. Burials were performed here up until 1942 when the transportation of Jews to concentration camps was commenced. Today it is part of the municipal cemetery. A total of 83 legible tombstones with Hebrew-Czech, Hebrew-German, Czech, Hebrew, and German inscriptions have been preserved.

Ruins, city fortifications

  The city's stone walls were built after the stay of Charles IV in Polička in the second half of the 14th century. The fortification system consisted of the main walls, moats, moat walls, water moat and ramparts. The defence system was strengthened in the 16th century by four barbacans equipped with a drawbridge intended for protecting the city gates. Neither the gates nor the barbacans have been preserved. The main walls remain preserved till today. They were reinforced by 19 semi-cylindrical towers...
