The fortress was most likely built at the end of the 13th century. It was rebuilt into a Renaissance chateau in the 16th century. After the nobility moved out of Orlice in 1650 to the chateau in Kyšperec, the building was modified for farming purposes.

Description A tour of the Renaissance chateau with unique glass floors, through which you can see to a depth of up to 4 m of the remnants of the original Gothic buildings. You will also visit the original Gothic cellars. You will see unique weapons here (bazookas 3.5 m in length), findings from the period of the Slavs, pictures, trophies, and even an original medieval toilet called a "crapper".

Trail B
Description A tour of the second and third floors above ground of the fortress. Marvel at the beauty products of the no longer existing Orlické glassworks. You will even get to see the original fragments of figural graffiti created in the mid-16th century, removed in 1998. In the unique contemporary letterpress workshop you will try to work on a huge wooden Gutenberg press and learn about other historical machines. The exhibition about the printing press is complete with rare exhibits of unique printed books - books that are usually not seen elsewhere, e.g. a copy of the Devil's Bible or Mattioli's Herbarium, which you can browse through on a large touch screen. The striking tower clock above your head guide you to the exhibition of archaeological finds from the underground fortress.

Description Magical Forest - fauna of the Czech Republic. The exposition is especially suitable for children. It is possible to see more than 100 stuffed animals in a woodland setting with a place to sit, a tunnel and cottage. Children during the tour actively get involved, perform a variety of tasks through which they become familiar with the fauna of the Czech Republic.

Description Archaeology exhibition, which houses a large number of potsherds from tiles and vessels found in Orlice. There are also remnants of jars and a valuable part of a medieval children's toys - the torso of a statue of a horse, very well made artistically. You will learn firsthand how the pieces are put together. There is also one of the longest Gothic swords in Bohemia and Avaran saber.
