  In the years 1694-1724 Count František Antonín Špork had a large complex of secular and church buildings constructed with the goal of creating a world-class spa. The stimulus for this project was the local mineral water springs. The fame of the Kukský spa lasted something over 30 years and ended with a flood that destroyed the buildings on the bank. The uninhabited Šporkovský Chateau burned in 1896 and the wreckage of the chateau and spa buildings was pulled down in 1901. During the Second World...
