Castles and chateaus

• Kostelec nad Orlicí - chateau
  The son of Prince Ferdinand, Count Josef Kinský, had this Empire style chateau built in 1829-1833 as the family residence. A reception room and library were built on the elevated ground floor; the first floor contained residential spaces.The Kostelec new chateau is one of the best Empire structures of its kind in the country. The chateau is surrounded by an English park, which has now been declared a nature preserve.

• Old chateau
  The chateau was built on the site of a former fortress, which was established before 1620. After a fire it was reconstructed into a chateau. In 1777, it burnt down, but it was later rebuilt in Baroque style by Frantisel Kermer.

  The 3.1 km long nature trail marked by a green figure of a man on a white backgroud will lead you to the peak part of Lipova Hill, to the resting area called Erbenka, where there are benches and an information board.

• PhDr. Jiří Guth Jarkovský's Educational Trail
  It goes through the forest park Lipova hillside (centre of nature recreation and sport) and along the bank of the Divoka Orlice River. It is 4.8 km long and has 10 stops. It bears the name of the famous citizen of Kostelec nad Orlice. A hiking trail joins it of the same name (58 km, Kostelec nad Orlicí – Ústí nad Orlicí).
