Horse riding
Horses are everywhere in Eastern Bohemia, perhaps because the region offers ideal conditions for them. This is even confirmed by the fact that many towns have horses in their town crests, symbolizing courage and strength. It isn’t by chance that the oldest stud farm in the Czech Republic is in Kladruby nad Labem,
the most demanding steeplechase on the European continent is the Great Pardubice Steeplechase, and that there is a horse museum in Slatiňany.
And it definitely is no coincidence that horse trails in Eastern Bohemia are experiencing a great boom in popularity. There are more than 600 km of marked riding trails (a white square with a blue, red, or yellow circle in the middle) in Eastern Bohemia. A long-range riding trail beginning in Vienna and running through Southern Bohemia to Eastern Bohemia runs through the area, with a trail junction at the LL Kovářov Ranch
. Connections across the Krkonoše Mountains and through Poland all the way to the Baltic Sea are planned for the future. Local riding trails and circuits cross through Chrudimsko, Pardubicko, and new trails for riding lovers are being established, for example, in the Orlické Mountains, in Podzvičínskoand in the Železný Mountains. Corals and stations where both you and your horse can find overnight accommodations are gradually opening, as are sites where you cant rent horses for your travels around the region. People can spend several days in the saddle and discover new areas.
