A fortress built in the 10th and 11th centuries; around 1600 it was rebuilt as a Renaissance chateau. The façade of the chateau features sgraffito, and the interior holds a beautiful vaulted entrance hall. The founding of the castle dates to 1261; in 1410 the castle acquired royal status. In 1610 Lichnice burned down, in 1646 it was captured by the Swedes, and following the Thirty Years War the castle was demolished on orders from Ferdinand III. The castle ruins and a small exhibition regarding its history and owners are the last monuments recalling the former significance of the Lichtenberg family residence. Following the Thirty Years War the Renaissance chateau served as the summer residence of the Hradec Králové bishops. The adapted chateau courtyard and the museum concert hall (the former chateau chapel with original paintings) serve for concert performances. The history of the lord's mansion was already mentioned in 1664. The building of the former chateau was torn down in 1823 and a new one was built in 1825. At the end of the 19th century, thorough reconstruction in Pseudo-Gothic style was conducted. Castle in the Gothic style that remained on a gneissic rise around 1325 and belonged to Tas of Rychmburk. One of its owners was Smil Flaška of Pardubice and Rychmburk in the 15th century. In 1425, the castle was seized by Hussites, in the 1st half of the 16th century Jindřich Šťastný of Valdštejn had it turned into a Late Gothic palace, afterwards Kinský had it renovated in the Baroque style in 1793 - 1798. An original Renaissance chateau residence erected on the site of a dilapidated fortress. The building first underwent Baroque reconstruction by František Karel Libštein of Kolovraty in 1663, and was subsequently rebuilt in Rococo style by the Kinský family in 1779. The chateau burned down twice: first in 1861, after which it was repaired to serve as a branch of the tuberculosis sanatorium in Košumberk, and a second time in 1947.Today the grounds of the chateau serve as a technical school. The chateau building was built after 1705 as a villa for the Premostrates from Hradisko near Olomouc.
