They were concentrated in a ghetto starting, most likely, in the mid-17th century. The Jewish Quarter stretched north from the square; remnants are preserved until today in reconstructed buildings. The original synagogue, probably wooden, burned to the ground during a fire in the town in 1747. The new synagogue was built in the Classicist style in 1792-1794 from stone...

    Bělá nad Svitavou - mass Jewish grave. A mass grave of Jewish prisoners of the former branch of the Gross-Rosen concentration camp in Brněnec, established near the armament firm of Svitavy native Oskar Schindler. Forty-two Jewish prisoners froze to death during transportation from Poland to "Schindler's Camp."

Burials were performed here up until 1942 when the transportation of Jews to concentration camps was commenced. Today it is part of the municipal cemetery. A total of 83 legible tombstones with Hebrew-Czech, Hebrew-German, Czech, Hebrew, and German inscriptions have been preserved.

    Svitavy - Jewish cemetery. The cemetery was founded in 1892; during the Second World War the cemetery fell into disrepair and tombstones were stolen or knocked over. At the beginning of the 21st century the town restored the cemetery (the communists built a clay court at the site). Forty tombstones have been preserved.
